Need More Time? Something Needs to Go.

April 26, 2018

We all are dealt the same cards: 24 hours in a day. So how do some people seem to use them so much better than others? If you feel that you never have enough time to do what you want, you need to realistically look at your day.

More than likely, you’re dedicating too much of your time to something mundane like too much tv watching, too much internet browsing, or too much emailing. Here are a few things you can cut out of your life that can help you find more time in the day.

  • Delete social media apps from your phone.
Delete Facebook or Instagram from your phone and you’re less likely to browse it while you’re at home, commuting, or killing time waiting at the doctor’s office. Instead, put the Kindle app on your phone and get some reading done.
  • Remove the TV from your bedroom.
Do this and you’ll find that you get more sleep, more quality time with your spouse, and more reading done. You also might be less stressed–the news isn’t necessarily the best way to start or end your day. Find something that brings you more joy.
  • Donate the clothing and items you don’t use or love.
Imagine a life with less clutter in which you have to make less decisions on what to wear each morning. Sounds pretty nice, right? The fewer things you own, the less you have to stress about. You may not realize how much time our “things” require. Get rid of some of them and find out!

How to Stay Healthy at Work

April 24, 2018

When it comes to health, you have to consider both your physical and mental state. And at work it’s easy to become beaten down due to stress, so much so that you could become physically ill. What can you do prevent that feeling of burn out? How do you stay on top of your game both physically and mentally? These tips can help.

  1. Sleep more.
Prioritize your sleep. That might mean watching less TV at night so you can get a solid night of rest, or having to get behind a little bit at work so that you can catch up on your zzz’s. If you’re not getting enough sleep, you’re not going to be productive at work or at home.
  2. Cut back on caffeine.
Caffeine is dehydrating, which isn’t good for anyone’s immune system. And it’s a crutch for sleepless nights. You know that if you stay up late, you can get a quick pick-me-up in the morning regardless of how you feel. Try switching to tea or decaf coffee as you make the transition, and follow each cup of caffeine with an even bigger cup of water.
  3. Eat a healthier breakfast and lunch.
Start with a filling breakfast like oatmeal with fruit on top as opposed to cereal, which often only fills you up for an hour or two. Re-think your lunches too: a bigger, protein-packed meal mid-day can power you through the afternoon easily. Take a few extra minutes to pursue the healthier choice instead of the fast food, grab-and-go meals.
