Spectrum Has Talent!

Have you ever wondered who the people are in our brands’ promotional photos and videos? If you’ve ever thought the models look familiar, you’re right. Our Marketing teams sometimes recruit employees to assist in photo shoots and promo videos.

Why do we recruit employees? Using employees as models for photo and video shoots saves the company money and provides the Marketing teams with more schedule flexibility and usage rights for the final photos and videos.

Including employees in photo and video shoots also offers great opportunities to work cross-functionally in new ways. “Watching them do their thing and getting to interact with this new team was very uplifting,” said Talent Acquisition Coordinator Andrea Treviso (pictured above), who recently participated in a Black + Decker Quiet Blender photo shoot. “They are down-to-earth with great senses of humor, fantastic at their jobs, and made me feel like part of the team.”

These shoots also let employees from different teams see what it takes to create high-quality visual content. “I couldn’t believe the amount of planning, time and effort that goes into each shot,” Treviso said.

It’s also fun to see the results online. “Seeing the pictures now through Instagram is awesome,” Treviso said. “Even if that was the only shoot I take part in, I’m incredibly grateful for it and is something I will always remember!”

Cutter® Brand Gives $100,000 & Hand Sanitizer to New York City Relief

We’re proud to make a donation to benefit life-saving programming and homeless people amid COVID-19 pandemic. Spectrum Brands has donated $100,000 to non-profit organization New York City Relief, along with more than 6,000 bottles of its recently developed Cutter™ hand sanitizer.

New York City Relief is dedicated to serving those who struggle with homelessness through a variety of resources. Funds from Spectrum Brands will support New York City Relief programming, which includes providing essentials like food and hygiene kits to the homeless and connecting them with services including housing, rehab, employment and more.

“COVID-19 doesn’t choose who it impacts, and we know many are hurting, especially those who are struggling with homelessness,” said David Maura, Executive Chairman and CEO at Spectrum Brands. “I have personally witnessed the great work New York City Relief does through my involvement with the organization in the past. The work they do is hard, but it is essential and it truly transforms lives. On behalf of Spectrum Brands, I am proud that we are able to lend a helping hand with Cutter Brand through both a monetary and product donation of our new Cutter hand sanitizer, an essential item that has become scarce amid this global pandemic.”

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Spectrum Brands has worked to identify ways to lend support to non-profit assistance groups as well as those working on the front lines. In April, Spectrum Brands announced that its Blacksburg, Va., manufacturing plant had shifted production to make hand sanitizer, a much-needed product during this unprecedented pandemic.

Since then, the organization has supplied Cutter hand sanitizer to all of its U.S. employees as well as its 15 U.S. facilities. In addition, the company has donated Cutter hand sanitizer to local organizations within the communities in which Spectrum Brands has operations, including the St. Louis Area Foodbank, the Northwest Arkansas Foodbank and Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va., among several other organizations.

“When this all started, we saw a huge spike in demand for services,” said Juan Galloway, President and CEO of New York City Relief. “With donations like Cutter hand sanitizer from Spectrum Brands, we’re able to ease the strain on resources and funding, ensuring those who need support get it.”

Cutter® mosquito and tick repellent products have been protecting families for over 50 years with some of the leading repellents in the U.S. The brand’s latest product, Cutter hand sanitizer, is currently available to consumers for purchase online at essential retailers. Spectrum Brands Donates $30,000 to Well Aware

May 5, 2020

Ahead of today’s global day of giving, Spectrum Brands made a $30,000 donation to Well Aware‘s Emergency WASH Fund. Well Aware provides sustainable water projects to drive development and empower communities in East Africa, and we are deeply committed to our partnership with this clean water nonprofit.

But COVID-19 is now spreading throughout East Africa. This means that the communities we’ve supported are particularly vulnerable to the spread of the virus. Families often do not have soap or hand washing stations at home and most remote populations also lack access to the vital information on proper sanitation guidelines.

Well Aware is rapidly responding to equip these communities with the WASH (Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene) tools they need to slow the spread of the virus with their vital WASH solution. Learn more about the program here.

This year, we committed to amplifying our impact through Well Aware even more. Every dollar you can give will help some of the most vulnerable populations fight COVID-19. Donate now: http://wellawareworld.org/spectrum-brands-wash-fund

Donating Cutter™Brand Hand Sanitizer to the Community

April 27, 2020

We continue to applaud our Home and Garden business unit for producing hand sanitizer in just two short weeks. After distributing the hand sanitizer to all 15 Spectrum Brands facilities and offices across the U.S., we turned to the community.

We’re proud to be able to give back to our community, especially in times of extreme need. We donated 5,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to our community partner St. Louis Area Foodbank, which will be distributed throughout their network and to individuals in need of assistance in St. Louis. See more about this donation on the local news.

We also donated a large portion of the initial run of Cutter™ Brand hand sanitizer to local communities like Noblesville, Indiana including the Noblesville Fire Deparment and the Noblesville Police Department. It’s an honor to help out our first responders in a small way. Thank you for all that you do!

Sean Raines, Senior Director of Marketing, delivered two cases of Cutter™ brand hand sanitizer to the NRVCS Montgomery Center in Blacksburg, Virginia earlier this week. He’s pictured here with Kara Clemons, Quality and Risk Management Lead for NRVCS.

NRVCS said in a tweet, “We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation from Spectrum Brands and appreciate their help in keeping our employees and clients safe. We are all in this together!”

We’re working on getting Cutter™ Brand hand sanitizer into the hands of our consumers. Stay safe, everyone!
